7. The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership by John Maxwell (1998)
I began learning many of these laws in 1992 as a student of John Maxwell’s, even though he had not yet identified them as laws. Prior to that, I was a weak and ineffective leader, although I held a top POSITION of leadership. I learned very quickly that a position or title does not make one a leader. I loved Jesus and the church, and I was passionate about the gospel; but I didn’t know how to lead. Learning these laws transformed my leadership. John didn’t create them. He simply identified them. They are as real as the laws of physics or the law of gravity. Those who learn them and follow them become effective leaders. Those who disagree with them, violate them, or ignore them do not. I’m thankful!
